Library holiday closure dates

The South St Campus Library including the 24/7 area, Veterinary Library and Rockingham Campus Library will close at 5pm on Tuesday the 22nd December and reopen on Monday 4th January 2016. Peel Campus Library will close at 4pm on Tuesday the 22nd December and reopen on Monday 4th January 2016.

Lighting upgrades – Link Levels 3 & 2

From Monday 30th November, work on improving the lighting in the Learning Link Levels 3 and 2 of the South St Campus Library will begin. Access to some study areas, including the learning common, may be affected. During this time, you may like to try alternate study spaces including Level 4 SW (silent area), Level 3 SW, Level 2 NW and SW and Level 1 SW.

The upgrade should be completed before the 22nd of December 2015. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Rockingham Library changes effective January 2016

As part of the University-wide changes at Rockingham, effective January 2016, the Library at Rockingham will become a public library and will be managed by the City of Rockingham.

As a consequence, Murdoch University Library services will change from December 22, 2015. Students and staff will no longer be able to request or place holds on items at the City of Rockingham libraries.

Rusty the Library Dog’s back!

Due to an overwhelming response from students and staff last week, Rusty will be returning to Murdoch University Library this Thursday 5th November at 12:30pm.

Rusty went down a storm with students and staff during his first visit to Murdoch’s library on Thursday. Bringing smiles and sighs to everyone he met, Rusty was petted and played with by hordes students as he moved through the library.

Library 24/7 Learning Common expansion - Friday 30th October

You asked for it, and we’ve delivered! The University Library is pleased to announce that from Friday 30th of October, the 24/7 Learning Common will expand to include North Wing Level 2 and the Library Courtyard. This means nearly twice as many computers available and 150% more study space. We'll also install microwaves in this area to help keep you going through those long study sessions.

If you have any further ideas that will improve your experience in the Library, please let us know.

-Revised- Power outages Library South Wing 7th-22nd October

Individual floors in the Library South Wing will be without power and lighting for the following times to enable the completion of the new lighting roll out. Access to these floors will be restricted. If you need to retrieve an item from a restricted area, please see staff at the Library Enquiries Desk.

Wednesday 7 October:  Level 4 from 5pm until close
Thursday 8 October:  Level 2 from  6pm until close
Thursday 15 October:  Level 1 from 4:15pm until close
Thursday 22 October:  Level 3 from 4:15pm until close

Relocation of print journals and DVD collection

In our ongoing effort to improve and expand study spaces at the South St Library, the print journals and DVD collection will be moving from North Wing Level 2 to South Wing Levels 1 (print journals) and 2 (DVD collection). Please check the Library Catalogue for more information on item locations.

There may be some disruptions during the relocation of these collections and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please give us your feedback.

Need help with My Unit Readings?

From Semester 2, reading lists all first year level units and along with a limited number of other units are now available on My Unit Readings.

Law Help Desk - New location

From Monday 27th July, the Law Help Desk can be found at the entrance of the Law Library (South Wing, Level 3).

You'll find senior law students there who can assist with Library Research Tests and legal research queries.

My Unit Readings - Log in issues

An unexpected error with My Unit Readings is not allowing students or staff to log in to their profile.

Please note: students can still access unit reading lists without having to log in. Staff will not be able to create or edit lists.

We are currently working on the issue and hope to have the problem resolved by Tuesday 23rd June.

Murdoch University unscheduled internet interruption

Murdoch IT Services have reported intermittent slowness to sites outside of the Murdoch network due to issues with the University Internet Service Provider.
Resolution time is unknown.  Please keep trying to connect, as the problem is intermittent.

ANZAC Day opening hours

All Library branches will be closed on ANZAC Day (Saturday 25th April) and the ANZAC Day holiday (Monday 27th April). The South St Campus Library will open as usual on Sunday 26th April from 12noon to 5pm. The 24/7 Learning Common will remain open for the entirity of the long weekend.

Tuesday and Thursday: 8am to 7pm
Saturday: 1pm to 4pm
Sunday: Closed

Murdoch Hackathon is coming!

The Peel Campus Library has moved from the busy combined library to its own space in the Learning Common. All normal services have resumed.

Temporary power outage at South St Library - Tuesday 13th January at 5pm (UPDATED)

There may be a 10 minute interruption to power on Tuesday 13th January at 5pm in the Library building due to a generator changeover.

Emergency lighting will be turned on and if the fire alarm sounds please follow exit direction from staff.

All services and equipment will work as normal once the changeover is complete.
